Teaching is a massive component of my career as a performer and educator. I strive to create an environment where students are challenged to pursue excellence while developing the confidence and independence necessary for lifelong success as musicians. My teaching philosophy is rooted in individualized instruction, recognizing that every student brings unique experiences, goals, and learning styles to the studio. Through a foundation of strong fundamentals, thoughtful musical exploration, and a supportive studio culture, I aim to help students become expressive performers, critical thinkers, and engaged members of the musical community.

As the Visiting Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University, I work with undergraduate and graduate students in applied lessons while fostering a collaborative and supportive studio environment. My teaching emphasizes the development of strong technical fundamentals, artistic expression, and independent problem-solving, equipping students with the skills necessary to thrive as performers, educators, and lifelong musicians.
In lessons, students are encouraged to think critically about their playing, develop efficient practice strategies, and cultivate their own artistic voice. Beyond lessons, I strive to build a community that values collaboration, professionalism, curiosity, and mutual support. Whether preparing students for recitals, ensemble performances, graduate study, or professional auditions, my goal is to provide individualized mentorship that helps each student reach their fullest potential while preparing them for the diverse opportunities available in today's musical world.

Tuba and Euphonium Workshop
Along with my duties at the Schwob School of Music, I also serve as the Assistant of the Tuba and Euphonium Workshop at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI). This is one of the nation's premier summer music programs for talented high school and young college musicians. Working alongside internationally recognized faculty, I help mentor students from across the country through private instruction, chamber music coaching, masterclasses, large ensemble rehearsals, and performance preparation.
My work at BUTI allows me to guide students during an important stage of their musical development while fostering an environment that emphasizes curiosity, collaboration, and artistic excellence. The workshop's intensive setting encourages students to challenge themselves musically, broaden their perspectives, and build meaningful connections with peers and faculty. Serving in this role continues to shape my own teaching by providing opportunities to collaborate with exceptional educators and work with highly motivated young musicians who represent the next generation of performers and teachers.
